NDBS Photography Project 2014 Launch Party Video!

June 5th, 2014

NDBS has been running a photography project for its members, led by Photographer Paula Geraghty. This involved trips to places of interest such as Ireland’s Eye, Botanic Gardens and Liberty Hall roof. There were also workshops where the members discussed the pictures they had taken and learnt tips on taking even better pictures. The project culminated in a month-long exhibition in Finglas Library starting on February 12, 2014. Video here.

There was a small launch party to mark the start of the exhibition. The weather that evening was foul, with high winds and rain lashing against the building. In fact, the roof of the library fell in the evening before and threatened our poor exhibition before it had even started. However the hard-working library staff managed to contain the damage and only a small area was inaccessible.

Because of the dreadful weather, the crowds were slow to arrive that night. But a good few hearty souls eventually fought their way to Finglas and the exhibition was launched with great success. There was lovely food, prepared by Our Glorious Leader Ann as well as tea & coffee. The assembled throng munched merrily on their nibbles as they watched a slideshow of the members’ photographs as well as a film of our trip to Ireland’s Eye, both put together by NDBS arty git/tech wiz Mike De Silva.

Paula Geraghty, who gave the photography course, spoke about how it had brought everyone together. Kevin Duignan, one of the members whose photographs were exhibited, said his confidence had grown as a result of the photography project.

Ann Devoy-Kelly, NDBS Co-ordinator spoke about the great effect the project had on our members.

Thanks to Tolka Area Partnership, Dublin City Council, Paula Geraghty, Terry Wogan and all at Finglas Library for making this project possible.
